Former President Donald Trump has surpassed President Joe Biden for the top White House spot in a virtual rematch in 2024, according to a new poll.
A new Emerson University poll released Tuesday showed that 44% said they would vote for Trump in the 2024 virtual election, while 41% said they would nominate Biden. Only 10% said they would vote for another presidential candidate.
In the same poll in November, Biden trailed Trump by four percentage points at 45%, compared with Trump’s 41% approval rating.
Despite Biden’s poor performance in the polls, more than half (58%) of Democratic primary or caucus voters believe Biden should be his party’s presidential nominee in 2024. thinking about. Only 42% said they would like to meet another candidate.
“Biden has increased support from minority members of the party, with 72% of Democratic Hispanic voters and 75% of Democratic Black voters agreeing that Biden should run for president in 2024. and 51% of white Democratic voters believe someone will be the next Democratic candidate next year,” said Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson College Polling.
In the 2024 Republican primary, 55% said they would vote for Trump, leading 29% of respondents to Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) nominee Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Florida) by 26 points. Biden has yet to announce whether he will seek re-election in 2024. However, he is reportedly preparing to launch his re-election campaign in the coming weeks, Hill reported, citing multiple sources aware of the president’s plans.
The outlet also cited sources claiming Biden is likely to make a formal announcement in April.
