Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) Wednesday asked the FBI to search the home of his eldest son, Hunter Biden, for classified documents.
On his Verdict podcast, Cruise said the FBI should conduct an investigation shortly after classified documents were found in President Joe Biden’s office at the Penn-Biden Center and his home in Wilmington, Delaware.
“The FBI must conduct searches and investigations to determine if there are classified documents at Hunter Biden’s home or business. We don’t have to sit down and have someone shred those documents. We need to show up tomorrow and search Hunter Biden’s home and office,” Cruz said.
“If it’s important to us to protect classified documents and understand what Joe Biden did, we must do so immediately,” he added.
In November 2022, Biden’s attorneys found nearly 10 classified documents in Vice President Biden’s office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement. Documents found days before the midterm elections were immediately turned over to the National Archives.
On December 20, 2022, more classified documents were found at his home in Wilmington. After searching the sitting president’s home for 13 hours, Justice Department investigators found at least six of his items last Friday bearing secret marks. A handful of classified documents have been found dating to Biden’s tenure as senator, which lasted from 1973 to 2009.
Other items found date back to his tenure as vice president under the Obama administration from 2009 to 2017. It was from the term. Additionally, investigators, citing Biden’s attorney Bob Bauer, also confiscated handwritten notes from his time as vice president, as reported by CNBC.
Investigators did not need a search warrant to conduct the investigation, as it was done at the request of Biden’s attorneys. The probe was conducted without Mr. Biden or Mrs. Jill Biden in attendance.
Biden wasn’t the only US politician to take classified documents out of the White House when he resigned. About a dozen classified documents were also found at the home of former Vice President Mike Pence last week. In late 2022, over 300 classified documents were seized from Donald Trump’s former President Mara’s Lago residence.
