Manchester United has yet to make an offer for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus this month, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said.

Reus, 33, has been a central figure at Signal his Iduna his Park for over a decade and has helped his youth team win five trophies with him. In his successful days, BVB won his second-place title his fifth time, and also contributed to his one-time top spot in the UEFA Champions League.

A technical player with a gift for passing and shooting, the German entered the last six months of his contract with Dortmund. With his future uncertain, speculation is rife that he could join Manchester United and Saudi Arabia’s Al Nasr in the winter at a discounted rate.

In an interview with the YouTube channel The United Stand, Romano shed light on Manchester United’s pursuit of Reus in the current window. He said:

“I’m told it’s true that they had some conversations with the agents of Marco Reus. He’s one of the players they considered, they spoke to, so it’s true that they had some conversations, but at the same time, I’m told that at the moment, it’s not a negotiation.”

Romano claimed the Red Devils had not submitted an offer for the former Borussia Mönchengladbach playmaker. He continued:

“So, Manchester United didn’t make any bid on Marco Reus, they are not in advanced talks to sign Marco Reus in the summer, so at the moment, it’s still a quiet situation. It’s just a conversation and it’s normal for a top club like United to explore several options, to speak to agents, to speak to players.”

In total, Reus made 368 appearances in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund, scoring 156 goals and providing 117 assists.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have so far signed Wout Wegord and Jack Butland on short-term loans from Burnley and Crystal Palace respectively in January.

Manchester United raise transfer interest for the 24-year-old Eredivisie forward:

Report

According to The Sun, Manchester United is keeping a close eye on his AZ Alkmaar star Jesper Karlsson and intend to sign him permanently next summer. Red Devils manager Eric Ten Hag is an admirer of the Swede, who is being sought after as a potential offensive contender for Jadon Sancho’s position within the team.

Carlsson, 24, has established himself as one of the brightest stars in the Eredivisie since he joined his AZ from IF Elfsborg in the summer of 2020 for around £ 2 million. In all competitions for the current club, he has scored 37 goals and provided 28 assists in 105 games.

Meanwhile, Sancho has failed to justify his £73m transfer fee since joining Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. He has missed the Red Devils’ last 15 games dating back to October.
