According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea is reluctant to make a deal with Premier League rivals Newcastle United over a loan deal for Hakim Ziyech.

Chelsea has had a busy winter transfer window so far, adding six new players to their ranks. They have signed Joao Felix (loan), Mihailo Mudrik, Benoît Badiacil, Nono Maduke, David Datro Fofana, and Andrei Santos.

Ziyech is being talked about as a potential candidate to leave Stamford Bridge in the next few days. According to the above sources, he is ready to leave the club if he receives a suitable offer.

The Moroccan international joined Chelsea in 2020 from Dutch giants Ajax for €40m. However, the transfer did not go as planned for him as he struggled to establish himself as a regular at the club.

Newcastle is said to be ready to offer Ziyech an escape route from Stamford Bridge this month. They were believed to be interested in signing the attackers on loan.

However, the Blues are reportedly reluctant to let the former Ajax star join the Magpies on loan. At this point in the season, they don’t seem ready to bolster their direct rivals, the Top 4.

Newcastle is ahead of Chelsea in the standings

Chelsea reportedly sees Newcastle as direct rivals since they were bought by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund last year. It’s also worth noting that the Magpies are placed above the Blues in the Premier League table.
